The Traumatic Loss Coalition can provide suicide prevention training to satisfy the N.J.S.A. 18A:6-11 requirements for schools. We appreciate the caution that schools are demonstrating as care needs to be taken to choose programs that are effective and safe especially in regard to suicide awareness programs for students. The evidence-based Question, Persuade, Refer model is used by Coordinators across the state which is able to serve (35) faculty at a time for a 2-hour training. The availability of other suicide prevention and related trainings can be discussed with the County Coordinator or TLC Central Team.

There is ALWAYS something you can do
Together, we can save lives.
- If someone you care about or know has said or done something that suggests they are contemplating suicide, please reach out.
- If you are unsure, here's some warning signs to help you make an assessment:
- • Talking about wanting to die or to kill themselves
- • Giving away important possessions
- • Talking about feeling hopeless or having no reason to live
- • For more warning signs, view the list at njhopeline.com/faq
- Trained staff members from many help services are there 24/7 and will work with you to determine the level of risk and assist you to keep that person safe.
- If needed, staff members from these helplines can talk to them together, or, if you would prefer, they can reach out to them individually to further assess and develop a safety plan.
- If you are even thinking about calling, do it. They can only help if they hear from you.
Don't let your fear of potential embarrassment outweigh your fear of losing a loved one.
